The
Indian Board of Alternative Medicines is the nation’s foremost
organisation in the field of alternative medicines with a membership
in excess of 70,000 practitioners, 10000 students and 195 affiliated centres spread across the length and breadth of the nation. True
to its motto, “Indigenous
Roots, Global Pursuits”, the Board has brought
alternative medicines to the attention of the masses and trained
thousands of students in India and abroad through its various courses
in the different disciplines of alternative medicines such as
acupressure, acupuncture, aromatherapy, electro homeopathy, biochemic
medicine, reiki, etc. To further facilitate the study of alternative
medicines and provide a high standard of educational programmes, the
Board has established the Open International University for
Alternative Medicines. The
university is accredited with World Association of Universities and
Colleges, a global accreditation organisation based in the USA, and
has gained membership of the International Council for Open and
Distance Education (Norway), an affiliate of UNESCO. The
Board also regularly organises workshops on the different alternative
therapies for large corporations and companies such as BHEL,
TISCO, JINDAL and INDALCO to name but a few. Blessed

country to be recognised by and affiliated to the United Nations Peace
University. Under
the stewardship of Dr. S. K. Agarwal, its founder president, the Board

international conferences of which it has thus far successfully
organised eight. These
events have received the moral support of international luminaries
such as Mother Teresa, the Dalai Lama, Rev. Desmond Tutu, Queen
Elizabeth and UN Secretary Generals to mention but a few.
