The Indian Institute of Alternative Medicines is duly affiliated with The Open International University for Alternative Medicines which has been established under the Charter of the Indian Board of Alternative Medicines which is incorporated under Act XXVI of 1961 (Regd. No. S/68765 of 1991-1992) of the Government of West Bengal based on the Central Government Act XXI of 1860 and the Literary and Scientific Institutions Act of 1854. This Act is applicable to the advancement and promotion of alternative medical sciences in India. The university is affiliated to the International Council for Open and Distance Education (Norway), an affiliate of UNESCO and the World Association of Universities and Colleges, a global accreditation organisation, based in the USA. The Board is affiliated with The International Association of Educators for World Peace, an affiliate of United Nations, UNICEF & UNESCO and International Union for Promotion of Health, an affiliate of WHO . The Board is maintaining mutual affiliation with several prestigious organisation World Wide.
The Indian Board of Alternative Medicines, under whose auspices the Open International University for Alternative Medicines has been formed, is the only organisation in India to be recognised by and affiliated to the United Nations University for Peace ( an international inter-governmental university established UN Resolution No. 35/55/5/XII/80) and duly recognised by the Government of India which is a signatory to the international agreement for the establishment of the University for Peace and Charter of the University for Peace of the UN.

Validity & Utility of the training courses, practice and research
in the field of Alternative Systems of Medicines are in strict
conformity with the Constitution of India as per
Successful and trained students of the Board can practice and profess the various system of Alternative Medicines in India as per Rules and Regulation of the Indian Board of Alternative Medicines.

from Medical Council of India is not required to practice the
